Privacy Statement
Cewt Chat is public chat
That means you should take care when sharing personal details. In short - don't. We advise you don't
provide any information that might be abused by strangers. That means no addresses, phone numbers or
names of schools, companies or institutions you attend. Your safety online is important.
What do we store?
We store the content of the conversations you have on Cewt Chat. That means the name you use and the
words you type. Your chat is public, so anyone can view it. If you want to chat in private, there are
better places to do it.
Our web logs will store basic information about browsers that connect to Cewt Chat. We treat this as
private data. This may include your IP address and other information that may identify your PC. We
do not share this information with third parties unless legally required to do so.
What don't we store?
Cewt Chat does not have user logins, so unless you connect with Twitter, we don't know who you are.
We don't have your email address, and will not contact you through email, Twitter, Facebook, telepathy
or any other means. Other than the usual web logs, we only know what you share with us.
What do we do with your data?
We were planning to mine it for jam. However, it turns out that data is an abstract construct, whilst jam
is a physical substance (that tastes great on toast). You can't mine data for jam. So, we've had to ditch that business plan. Instead,
we store the data as outlined above in order to share conversations with the world. That's it. There's no
evil master plan, and no ulterior motive.
